"Kaštielik" (Svidník)
On the right bank of the Ondava River to the south of Svidník there stands a hill called Kaštielik, which once had a castle or fortified residence. According to archaeological research, the fortified construction could be as old as from the 15th century. In the autumn of 1944, Kaštielik was the site of heavy fighting during the Dukla Offensive. Traces of trenches from World War I can be found here too. Nowadays the hill is covered with open oak and beech woodland.
